Underwear firm in administration

Two hundred jobs are under threat after a Derbyshire-based lingerie company went into administration.

Intimas, which is based at Long Eaton, near Nottingham, has called in administrators after becoming a "victim of the recession".

John Gibson, chairman of Intimas, said the directors and administrators would do all they could to secure a future for the business and safeguard jobs.

It is hoped the firm will be sold as a going concern.

Intimas reported losses of £1.65m in the first half of 2008 as a result of a downturn in trading.

Stuart Maddison, joint administrator and partner for administrators PricewaterhouseCoopers in the East Midlands, said: "Our main priority now will be to review the outstanding order position and to look to achieve a sale of the business and its key brands.

"We are expecting a number of expressions of interest in the business."

The firm is a designer and supplier of women's lingerie and swimwear. In 2006, it agreed a three-year deal to supply model Caprice with lingerie for her new range.
