City road closed following crash

A main road in Derby city centre was closed for several hours following a crash involving a motorbike.

The accident happened just before 1010 BST on Saturday.

A police spokesman said the 22-year-old biker crashed into a safety barrier on a section of road between Eastgate and the Cockpit Island.

She was taken to the Royal Derby Hospital for treatment. Any witnesses to the accident have been asked to contact Derbyshire Police.
