Raid uncovers gun and ammunition

A loaded handgun, ammunition and drugs were recovered during an operation targeting gun and gang crime in Derby.

Four people were also arrested when officers raided a house in Coleridge Street, on the Austin estate, on Wednesday morning.

A 41-year-old woman, two 18-year-old men and a 17-year-old youth are in custody awaiting questioning.

A specialist search team remains at the house where inquiries continue, the spokesman added.

In a separate incident a 29-year-old woman was arrested after drugs were recovered from a house in Osmaston Park Road. She has been released on bail.

Police have also patrolled the Allenton and Sinfin areas as part of Operation Redshank - set up in response to a series of incidents in which guns were fired.
