Blitz on illegal school parking

Motorists who park illegally near a Derbyshire school have been told that they are endangering pupils.

The warning has been made to parents who have been parking on yellow zigzag lines and pavements near Newbold Church of England Primary School.

Patrols have been set up in the village at school start and finish times.

Police community support officer Cate Gill said: "We see this problem in a lot of schools. We want parents to think about where they park."

She added: "I know many parents want to get as close to the school as they can when they are dropping off or picking up their children.

"But this can cause problems and in some cases puts the children in danger."
