A man has been charged with the murder of a teenager shot dead in Derby.

Kadeem Blackwood, 15, was shot once in the street in Sunnyhill on Tuesday at about 2120 GMT. He died of his injuries later in hospital.

Michael Hamblett-Sewell, 19, of Derby, appeared at Derby Magistrates' Court on Saturday and was remanded in custody.

An 18-year-old man was arrested on Saturday afternoon on suspicion of murder and is being questioned, a police spokesman added.

Mr Blackwood was walking with a group of friends near a recreation ground when he was killed.

Police have said they would continue high-profile patrols in the area to reassure residents.
