Teenage crash victims identified

Liam Connell and Andrew Sellers
Friends said the boys were "car mad"

Two teenage boys who died in a head-on collision in Derbyshire have been identified by police.

Andrew Sellers, 18, from Ashbourne, was driving a Vauxhall when it collided with a Volkswagen Passat on the A52 near Kirk Langley on Monday.

His passenger, Liam Connell, 16, from Ashbourne, also died in the collision along with Passat passenger Alice Greenwood, 12, from West Yorkshire.

Derbyshire Police said inquiries were continuing into the cause of the crash.

Alice's mother Juliette, 45, the Passat driver, was seriously injured and her sister Clara, six, was also hurt.

The collision, which took place just before 2100 BST, closed the road for four hours.

Alice Greenwood was taken to hospital but died of her injuries.

Her mother remains in intensive care at Derbyshire Royal Infirmary.

Friends of the Ashbourne teenagers killed in the crash drove their cars through the town in tribute to the pair on Tuesday night and said the convoy had been organised as both were "car-mad".

Police have asked any witnesses to the crash to contact them.
