Three escape uninjured from blaze

Dozens of fire fighters have tackled a fire at two homes in Derbyshire that started in the early hours of Monday.

An investigation is under way to determine the exact cause of the fire on Lawrence Street in Long Eaton, fire officials said.

Watch manager Kevin Barber said no one was hurt in the blaze but three residents managed to escape from the two semi-detached homes.

Fire officials said the properties did not have smoke alarms installed.

At its height, up to 25 firefighters tackled the blaze.
