Big wheel offers new city views

A 100ft (35m) observation wheel that has been erected in Derby's market place over the past week has just opened to the public.

Organisers said it will give a unique opportunity to see familiar sights from a new angle.

The ferris wheel, which has toured cities across Europe, is due to be in place until 21 September.

The wheel has 24 cars which can carry 144 people and will be open seven days a week.

Warren James from Giant Attractions Limited, said it was a great view: "If you are a bit camera happy it is a good opportunity to get it out.

"Every rider stops at the top so you get a good look around and you might even be able to see your house because you can see for miles."
