Tickets on sale at troubled venue

The council and board put in rival bids for the theatre

Tickets have finally gone on sale at the reopened Derby Playhouse, just a week before the first performance.

The theatre closed in February after problems arose with the city council over funding and management.

New performances were announced after a £300,000 rescue package was agreed with the administrators - though that money has yet to be received by the theatre.

The doors are due to reopen on 13 September despite technical problems affecting the booking process.

Manager Helen Lloyd said the show must go on: "We are only able to sell tickets for The Killing of Sister George because physically we have not got enough tickets for anything else.

"The other problem is that people can only come and book in person because BT hasn't come to connect our phone lines."
