Two dead in county road crashes

A teenager has died and another person is in a serious condition after a road accident in Derbyshire.

Police said a Citroen Saxo came off the road on Hartshay Hill at Ripley and hit a tree on Monday night.

The occupants were taken to hospital where the passenger, Jack O'Dare, 17, from Codnor Park, Ironville, died. The 19-year-old driver is seriously hurt.

In another accident, a woman, 21, from Coalville, Leicestershire, died after crashing her car in Duffield on Sunday.

She died at Derbyshire Royal Infirmary in the early hours of Monday.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
