A disc jockey from Derby who was injured in Crete has undergone a seven-hour journey to get treatment at a burns unit in Athens.

Dean Willis, 23, also known as DJ Beenie, was knocked off his moped in the town of Malia on the Greek island.

Under EU regulations Mr Willis is entitled to free health care, but he does not have the money to return home as he did not have travel insurance.

Friends and family are trying to raise more than £8,000 to fly him home.

Mr Willis suffered injuries including a broken thigh and third-degree burns after his moped caught fire in the accident.

His mother, Cheryl Yorke, who was by his side during the journey to hospital, told the BBC her son had been in "excruciating pain."
