Police issue new dispersal order

Police in part of Derbyshire will be able to break up groups of people suspected of causing problems after the adoption of new laws.

A dispersal order is being set up in South Normanton and parts of Pinxton to help reduce anti-social behaviour.

Officers will also be able to take children under the age of 16 home if they are not accompanied by a responsible adult.

The order will come into effect from 21 July and will run for six months.

If people refuse to leave the area or return within 24 hours, they can be arrested.

Sgt Jason Clark said: "This legislation has been a necessary response to the high levels of minor disorder and damage within the area.

"It will also allow us to tackle these issues over the summer holidays when young people spend a lot more time within the local community."
