A man has been sent to prison after beating another man to death with a baseball bat in Derby.

Melvyn Hadley Junior, 20, was killed on wasteland just yards from his home in Normanton in July last year.

Jatinder Dosanjh, 27, from Derby, hit Mr Hadley numerous times with a baseball bat.

He admitted manslaughter at Derby Crown Court and was jailed for nine years. Mr Hadley's family said the sentence was not long enough.

Outside court, Mr Hadley's mother Tanya Higgins, said: "It's affected everything, day-to-day life, you cry every day.

"There's a part of my life missing which nobody will ever be able to bring back to any of us. I gave birth to two children, I've now got one. He was 20 when he died.

"The judicial system in Derby has let us down desperately."
