Accident scene at Tutbury
An investigation into the fatal accident is under way

Train services have resumed on a rail line in Derbyshire which was closed after a fatal accident on Saturday.

A man died at a level crossing at Marston on Dove near Burton-upon-Trent when an East Midlands Trains service from Derby to Crewe hit a car.

The car was thrown off the track into a nearby field in the collision, a Network Rail spokeswoman said.

British Transport Police are continuing their investigation into the cause of the accident.

Two of the 54 passengers on the East Midlands Trains service suffered minor injuries.

The train was travelling at about 65mph when it hit the car near Tutbury and Hatton station, about four miles from Burton-upon-Trent.
