Drugs arrests after house raided

Police have raided a suspected crack house in Derby and arrested five people on drugs charges.

Officers raided the flat on Church Street in Normanton on Thursday morning, a police spokesman said.

A court order will be applied for to keep the property closed for three months under anti-social behaviour legislation.

A police spokesman said it is believed a quantity of heroin and cocaine was seized in the raid.

Det Insp Steve Pont of Derbyshire Police said: "This was a very significant raid. It came as a result of information received from the community and concerns from local residents who believed drugs were being dealt there.

"We always respond to community intelligence although sometimes can't respond immediately because we have to gather evidence."

The men arrested will be questioned at St Mary's Wharf police station on suspicion of possession of class A drugs with intent to supply.
