Inmate absconds from open prison

A convicted armed robber has absconded from a Derbyshire Prison, police in the county confirmed.

Wesley Crawford, 42, whose last known address was in Birmingham, absconded from HMP Sudbury on Tuesday 6 May.

He was sentenced to 12 years in prison at Wolverhampton Crown Court in July 2001. Crawford is described as black, 5ft 6in tall and of medium build.

People have been told not to approach him. More than 660 inmates walked out of HMP Sudbury in the past 10 years.

West Midlands Police said anyone with any information about Crawford's whereabouts should immediately contact their local police or Crimestoppers.
