Theatre fate back at High Court

The damaged building
Unsafe parts of the building have been removed

The decision on whether to demolish a Derby theatre is being debated again at the High Court in London.

The Hippodrome's owner, Christopher Anthony, has clashed with Derby City Council over whether the structure is unsafe or should be restored.

A surveyor was appointed following an earlier High Court hearing to see if the theatre could be saved, but he pulled out of the job.

The council hope this current hearing will decide the fate of the theatre.

Since part of the derelict former theatre collapsed in March, the owner has insisted the structure is unsafe but the council believes it can be restored.

The hearing is due to last two days.
