Work starts on road safety scheme
Work to improve road safety at major junctions in Derby is set to start.

The city council is installing a series of speed-reduction schemes at junctions with high accident figures in and around Chaddesden.

A series of raised sections are being installed to encourage drivers to slow down. Residents chose this as the preferred traffic calming option.

Work on the £80,000 scheme is expected to last about six weeks and will involve some road closures.

A consultation was held in the area in March 2007, detailing the number of accidents on Max Road, Hereford Road and Hampshire Road.

Funding for the work has come from the government through the Derby Joint Local Transport Plan.
