Petition for new school building
Brailsford Church of England Primary
The building dates back to the early 19th Century
More than 100 people have signed a petition to get a replacement for a Derbyshire school.

The original building at Brailsford Church of England Primary dates back to the early 19th Century and staff believe it is too run down and small.

Derbyshire County Council intends to replace it when funding eventually becomes available.

Head teacher Jackie Micklethwaite said the conditions were beginning to affect the pupils' education.

She said: "It is about time that Brailsford was seriously looked at.

"I don't think there can be many schools in the county which have so many children with such a lack of space for PE, drama, meeting together, just learning spaces.

"Two of the classrooms are very cramped. There isn't space for the children to learn and develop as we want them to."
