Inquiry after man's bridge fall
Police want to find out how a man from the Wirral came to be found in a freight train wagon in Derbyshire.

It is thought the 22-year-old from Birkenhead fell from a railway bridge in Warrington into the train's coal wagon as it passed underneath.

He is believed to have spent about four hours on board, before he was found at Earle's Sidings near Hope, in the Peak District, on Saturday morning.

His condition in hospital is described as serious but stable and improving.

He is being treated for severe burns and other injuries.

Cheshire Police are working with British Transport Police to work out what happened.

A woman believed to be known to the man has been interviewed by officers.
