Plane forced back after takeoff
East Midlands Airport
Checks were made on the plane at the airport
An aircraft carrying 118 passengers was forced to turn around shortly after taking off from East Midlands Airport.

The pilot of the Easyjet plane, which was travelling to Faro, Portugal, reported problems with cabin pressure.

Emergency services were put on standby but the Airbus A319 landed safely at the airport.

No one was hurt. An Easyjet spokeswoman said the aircraft made a precautionary landing and a fault was later found with the air-conditioning unit.

She said the company had put on an extra aircraft to cover for the one being repaired.
