Permanent Green Flag for school
A school will be permanently flying an Eco School Green Flag award for its environmental excellence.

The Long Eaton School is one of only seven schools nationally to be given the award.

The permanent flag was awarded after the school won the international honours scheme three times - in 1999, 2002 and 2004.

Barbara James from the school said it was important for everybody to take measures to protect the environment.

She said: "We have very, very little litter and we try to be a caring school.

"We try to educate youngsters to look after themselves, each other and the environment itself so that when they go out of school, we'd like to think that they're going to care for the environment and the wider world."
