Mobile CCTV cameras target crime

Work has started to put up mobile CCTV cameras in eight locations throughout a part of Derbyshire.

The Amber Valley Community Safety Partnership and Derbyshire Police have joined forces to buy and install the new cameras.

The aim of the project is to reduce anti-social behaviour and criminal damage in the Amber Valley area.

The cameras will be in their initial locations for three months and may be moved if they are not working well.

"We are sure everyone will welcome the cameras," said Lauren Roberts from the Safety Partnership.

"They will help us keep a close eye on areas where issues have arisen in the past, they can provide evidence and most importantly, they will help responsible people in these areas to feel after."

The cameras are being installed at the the Acorn Centre, Lanhley Mill, Codnor Market Place, the Peasehill Road and Waingroves junction, outside Tesco in Heanor, Whitemoor Lane and the Butts in Belper, Somercotes Market Place and The Green in Swanwick.
