Worker dies in Borneo road crash

A volunteer manager with the youth charity Raleigh International has died in a road accident in Borneo, Malaysia.

Toby Eaton-Baudains, 29, from Barlow, Derbyshire died while a group were travelling from Sepilok orang-utan sanctuary to a project at Batu Puteh.

The driver of a van in which the group was travelling hit a lorry parked at the side of the road.

The incident is being investigated by the Malaysian authorities and the charity is conducting its own inquiry.

Ten people were in the van. Two are in hospital in Kuala Lumpur.

Raleigh International's chief executive officer Stacey Adams said: "Toby was a really enthusiastic and dynamic person and he brought lots of skills to his project manager role.

"It is incredibly sad that Toby lost his life. We will conduct a thorough investigation into the incident."

Raleigh International is a charity committed to the personal growth and development of young people from all nationalities and backgrounds.

It runs 10 overseas programmes each year. Each one involves between 70 and 120 young people.
