Quarrying public inquiry closes
A public inquiry into Backdale Quarry near Bakewell in the Peak District has ended.

It followed enforcement action by the National Park Authority to stop alleged excess limestone removal from the quarry, on Longstone Edge.

MMC Mineral Processing said it had permission dating back 55 years. But local people and the authority say that should no longer apply.

The planning inspector's decision is expected by May.
