Robbers threaten security guard
A security guard is recovering after armed robbers threatened him and forced him to hand over cash boxes in Derby.

He was going into the Co-op supermarket on Crayford Road in Alvaston on Tuesday morning when he was robbed by two men holding a handgun and a knife.

The robbers, both in balaclavas, made off in a black Vauxhall Astra car that was later found abandoned nearby.

The security guard was not hurt during the incident and police are now appealing for witnesses.

A firearm - believed to be a bb-gun or replica weapon - and a knife were later recovered from the car.

The robber who carried the handgun is described as black, slim, about 6ft tall and wearing a black padded jacket and black gloves.

The other one is believed to be mixed-race or Asian, about 5ft 11in wearing dark clothing, carrying a knife.
