Misconduct hearings over murder

Seven police officers are to appear before a misconduct hearing into the case of a Derbyshire woman murdered by her former boyfriend.

Mark Dyche was jailed in 2005 for killing showjumper Tania Moore, 26.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) inquiry follows a referral by Derbyshire police.

It will examine whether officers failed to "take appropriate action in response to requests for assistance from Tania Moore".

In 2005 Nottingham Crown Court heard that Dyche rammed Ms Moore's car off the road near her home in Alkmonton, Derbyshire, after a year-long hate campaign.

Before she died, the 26-year-old had told police about threats made to her by Dyche.

The former digger driver, from Marston Montgomery, Derbyshire, was described by the trial judge as a "cold, ruthless and dangerous killer".

Dyche is serving a minimum of 30 years after being convicted of her murder and conspiracy to rob.

Following complaints from Ms Moore's family, the IPCC examined how Derbyshire and Staffordshire Police forces shared information before the murder and reviewed how her fears were treated.

The hearing is expected to last up to three weeks.
