A Derby man has denied murdering his aunt in an attack at her home.

Leicester Crown Court heard Martin Cliff, 19, of Baker Street, Alvaston left Lisa Wood, a mother-of-five, with almost 100 injuries on her body.

The prosecution claims he attacked the 38-year-old at night in her home on Campbell Street, in Allenton, Derby, after they had been drinking heavily.

She was found a few days later by her daughter, aged 16. Mr Cliff told police another man attacked him and his aunt.

The weapons used against her are alleged to include a knife, scissors and even broken glass from a table top.

The prosecution say forensic evidence links Mr Cliff to the crime scene - blood stains from his trainers are said to have left imprints behind.

The defendant claims he fled in panic after another man attacked him and his aunt.

The trial continues.
