Lorry drivers have been caught breaking weight restrictions close to an ancient monument in Derbyshire.
Four drivers admitted breaching the 7.5 tonne weight limit designed to preserve the structure of Swarkestone Causeway.
Trading standards officers had been monitoring the area after complaints from residents and councillors about HGVs using shortcuts.
Four drivers who admitted using a lorry in excess of the weight limit were fined £200 to £240, with £135 costs.
Martyn Smith, trading standards manager for Derbyshire County Council, said: "We will continue to crack down on drivers who flout weight restrictions on Derbyshire's roads to improve safety for residents, pedestrians and other road users.
"We also carry out these checks to protect the environment and these fines reflect our concern for preserving Swarkestone Causeway."
