A teenage car thief is behind bars after being caught by a speed camera.
Lee Cook was photographed speeding along Burton Road, Derby, just minutes after taking the vehicle and possessions from a house in Breadsall.
The 18-year-old, of Springfield Road, Etwall, was sentenced to 18 months in a young offenders' institution after admitting burglary.
Police were able to identify Cook behind the wheel in the stolen Audi because of front-facing photography.
'Cashing in'
Derbyshire Police praised the Derbyshire Safety Camera Partnership for trawling through films to find the offender after the case at Derby Crown Court.
DC Fiona MacDonald said: "The fact that he was caught on camera only minutes after the break-in gave us the additional and crucial evidence we needed to prove his involvement in the offence. "
Sgt Roy Stevenson, from Derbyshire Safety Camera Partnership, said: "Partnerships are often wrongly accused of cashing in on motorists.
"This just shows that safety cameras not only reduce speed and casualties on the county's roads, but they are also used for identifying and bringing to justice more serious criminals."
