A Derby heroin addict described by a judge as an important part of the drugs trade has been jailed for four years.
Anthony Saxon, 25, of Woods Lane, pleaded guilty on Thursday to possessing a Class A drug and possessing it with intent to supply.
Derby Crown Court heard how police raided his home last October and found heroin with a street value of £18,000.
Judge Andrew Hamilton said big dealers needed the likes of Saxon to survive and only a long sentence was justified.
Saxon first told police he had been letting a dealer known only as Dee use his home to deal from in order to pay back a drug debt.
But the judge said he believed Saxon had been the main dealer, selling from his own house.
