Blazing end for illegal fireworks
Derbyshire had its very own big bang on Thursday

Derbyshire residents experienced a big bang on Thursday when 100 tonnes of confiscated fireworks were destroyed at Darley Moor racetrack, near Ashbourne.

Leaflets were sent to nearby residents warning them of the explosion.

The fireworks had been seized by Customs and Excise from across the country, some illegally imported from countries such as China.

Prior to being blown up, they had been stored at the Cosmic Fireworks factory in east Staffordshire.
