Climber dies after rock fall
High Tor
The climber died in an accident on High Tor in Derbyshire
A 39-year-old man has died in a climbing accident near Matlock Bath in Derbyshire.

The climber died while tackling High Tor with two friends on Monday afternoon.

It is thought he was killed by a rock fall that may have been triggered after another climber hammered in a climbing peg.

The accident happened as the man and a companion stood at the foot of the 440-feet cliff.

Second accident

Derbyshire Mountain Rescue helped a fire service rope team rescue the stranded climber, and recover the dead man's body.

Neither of the other men was injured.

Another man died in a climbing accident on Saturday in nearby Staffordshire on Beeston Tor.

He fell 90 feet and was airlifted to hospital, but died a few hours later.
