Glider pilot dies in crash
A glider pilot has died after his aircraft crashed during take-off, Derbyshire police said.

The 52-year-old man from Wilmslow, Cheshire, was killed when his aircraft came down at the Derbyshire and Lancashire Gliding Club at Camphill, near Bakewell in Derbyshire.

Other pilots and club staff rushed to help the victim, who has not been named, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Inspector Lee Collison of Derbyshire Police said the glider was being launched with a winch when it crashed at about 1615 BST on Wednesday.

He said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the accident.

The club has been closed while police and the British Gliding Association carry out a joint investigation.

The pilot's relatives have been contacted, he added.
