Murder attempt charges over party stabbings in Cumbria

A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after two people were stabbed at a party in Cumbria.

A 41-year-old man and a woman aged 36 were taken to Carlisle's Cumberland Infirmary after the incident in Tree Road, Brampton, early on Sunday.

They remain in a stable condition, according to Cumbria Police.

Mathew Lucas, 39, of Chapel Street in Penrith, was remanded in custody until 7 June when he appeared before magistrates in Carlisle on Tuesday.
