Elderly man killed in collision in Cumbria

An elderly pedestrian has died after being hit by a car in Egremont, Cumbria.

The man was taken to West Cumberland Hospital after the collision in North Road, where he died from his injuries.

The collision happened at 1140 BST and involved a Ford Ka which was being driven by a woman from Whitehaven.

The road was closed while police cleared and investigated the scene and witnesses are being urged to come forward.
