Man dies in three-vehicle crash near Penrith

An Appleby man has died after two cars and a minibus crashed on the A6 near Penrith on Wednesday afternoon.

Robert Bruce, 52 of Sandford Arms, was driving a Peugeot 307 when it collided with a minibus near Milestone House. A Vauxhall Astra crashed into debris.

The female passenger in the Peugeot was taken to hospital in Newcastle. She is in a serious condition.

The minibus driver and a 14-year-old girl were taken to Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle with serious injuries.

The 19-year-old driver of the Vauxhall was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The police have thanked the members of the public who offered help following the crash.
