Sex attack suspect image released

Detectives hunting a sex attacker who assaulted a teenage jogger in Cumbria have released an image of the suspect.

The 16-year-old girl was on Badgers Lonning, near Lazonby, on 5 August, when she was knocked to the ground and subjected to a sexual assault.

Police said a specially trained artist worked with the victim to come up with the digitally enhanced image.

Her attacker was in his late 20s, of slim build and tanned. Cumbria Police renewed an appeal for witnesses.

Remote spot

It took the girl until the end of October to build up enough courage to report the incident to police and talk about her experiences.

Det Insp Doug Marshall, of Cumbria Police, said: "I am sure the public have a strong part to play in helping us solve this crime, so I would urge people to contact us with any information.

"We don't want the local community to feel unsafe.

"The Eden Valley is a beautiful and safe place to live, however, this incident highlights the importance of people taking steps to protect themselves by being aware of their surroundings and looking out for one another."

The area where the attack happened is a remote spot and popular with walkers.
