Views sought on Lakes development

Lake District landowners and residents are being asked which locations in the region are suitable to build houses and businesses on.

The Lake District National Park Authority has begun a six-week public consultation on its Allocations of Land Development Plan Document.

It is expected that potential sites will be mainly in service centres such as Ambleside, Windermere or Coniston.

People can comment online, by post, or at planning meetings until 18 December.

Chris Warren, from the authority, said: "Our priority is to allocate sites within our rural service centres as outlined in our core strategy.

"However, where it is established that demand cannot be met in our rural service centres then we will look to allocate land in our villages."
