Man dies in lake diving accident

A diver has died at a lake in Cumbria despite a rescue attempt by emergency services.

The coastguard, police, and air ambulance attended Wastwater on Thursday after it was reported a diver was in difficulty.

The man was recovered from the water but was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cumbria Police said the man was not believed to be local and police are now working to formally identify him and inform his immediate family.
