Woman killed in lorry collision

A woman has died in a road crash while driving her two young children in south Cumbria.

The 41-year-old's Citroen was in collision with an articulated lorry on the A590 at Gilpin Bridge, Levens - near Kendal - on Wednesday evening.

She was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital, where she later died.

Her children were treated for cuts at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. Cumbria Police have appeal for any witnesses to the crash.

A spokesman said next of kin were being informed about the death of the woman, who was from the local area.

The lorry driver was uninjured in the collision.
