Man's body recovered from reeds

Police are trying to identify the body of a man washed up on the south Cumbrian coast.

Officers were called by a member of the public to Lowsy Point, near Barrow-in-Furness, on Tuesday afternoon.

A Cumbria force spokesman said a team recovered the body from reeds close to the shore.

He said efforts were under way to formally identify the man and establish the circumstances surrounding his death.

Lowsy Point is a popular beauty spot close to Walney Island and favoured by walkers.
