Injured cyclist's identity sought

Police are trying to identify a cyclist who was seriously injured in a collision with a motorbike in Cumbria.

The crash happened on the A591 at Dunmail Raise, near Thirlmere, on Saturday morning.

Both the cyclist and motorbike were travelling in the same direction. The cyclist was taken to hospital in Preston by air ambulance.

Police said he was riding a black carbon fibre racing bike and was wearing cycling shorts and a white top.

He was not carrying any identification.

The motorbike rider, a 45-year-old man from Preston, and his 46-year-old pillion passenger were not injured.

The northbound carriageway of the A591 was closed for five hours for investigations.
