Beach body is missing ferry man

A man found dead on a South Cumbrian beach vanished while aboard a ferry in the Irish Sea, said police.

Simon Swinnerton was reported missing by police in Dublin earlier this month when he failed to disembark from the ferry he boarded in Liverpool.

The body of the 46-year-old, from Tong Way in Leeds, was discovered by a member of the public on Earnse Point, Walney Island, early on Thursday.

Police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
