Body of man discovered on beach

An area of beach in South Cumbria has been cordoned off after a man's body was found.

A local man spotted the body on the shore at Walney Island, off Barrow-in-Furness, at 0750 BST.

Police and crime scene investigators are at the scene of the discovery, on Earnse Point.

Officers are trying to establish the man's identity and the cause of his death, according to a spokesman for Cumbria Police.
