Checks over beach body identity

Police are checking dental records to establish if a body of a man found on a beach in west Cumbria is that of a missing angler.

Paul Sheldon, 52, of Festival Road, Millom, was reported missing on 28 June after failing to return home from a fishing trip in Eskmeals.

The body was found by a man fishing near Drigg Point on Saturday morning.

Police, the coastguard and an RAF helicopter took part in the original search, which was later scaled down.

Mr Sheldon was last seen on the evening of 27 June before heading out on the fishing trip.
