Man injured in air rifle shooting

A 20-year-old man suffered leg injuries when he was shot with an air rifle in west Cumbria.

The victim was hit by a pellet in the North Shore area of Whitehaven on Wednesday evening.

It was fired by a man seen getting out of the passenger seat of a silver car, possibly a Ford Fiesta, said police.

Anyone who saw the attacker, who was wearing a hooded top and black tracksuit bottoms with white stripes, should contact the Cumbria force.
