Consortium will run nuclear lab

A consortium has been chosen to run the National Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) at Sellafield in Cumbria.

A group led by facilities firm Serco and including Manchester University, will be responsible for developing the complex.

The decision was taken after a nine-month competition to find a commercial operator for the government-owned site.

The lab has been tasked with safeguarding vital skills for the UK's civil nuclear industry.
