Disaster action group established

A special partnership has been set up to help residents deal with potential disasters in Cumbria.

In the wake of the 2005 floods, the foot and mouth epidemic and the Grayrigg rail crash, an Emergency Planning group has been formed.

Safety officers will be working with community groups and individuals to help them reduce the risk to life and property in an emergency.

Advice and guidance is also available on Cumbria County Council's website.

Councils in Allerdale, Barrow, Carlisle, Copelend, Eden, South Lakeland and Cumbria County Council have signed up to the scheme.
