Cannabis farm helper sent to jail

A man who helped to set up a cannabis factory in west Cumbria has been jailed for two years.

Van Hung Nguyen, 44, from south-east London, delivered equipment to a remote farmhouse near Calder Bridge.

The equipment was used to set up a heating system for a cannabis production line involving 1,600 plants.

Nguyen was traced through fingerprints found at the farm. Appearing at Carlisle Crown Court, he admitted being concerned in the production of drugs.

The hearing heard how when police raided the farm they found plants, which when mature, would have yielded 24kg of cannabis.

Nguyen told the court he was nothing more than a delivery driver who was paid £100 to deliver drugs equipment from Birmingham and unload.
